Board Member Spotlight: Ali Kamakhi

Ali Kamakhi recently moved to Tallahassee with his family for his wife to work on her PhD. at The Florida State University. As a serial entrepreneur having cofounded several successful startups, Ali has made the most of his time by confounding Jareed, an online media company and joining the Domi Board of Directors. Ali believes our town is a “hidden gem,” perfect for any new startup. Ali describes Tallahassee as more than just a capital city flourishing with resources, it has remarkable greenery, diverse opportunities for your desired quality of life and all four seasons of the year to enjoy.

Domi’s kind and helpful culture is what spurred his involvement in the mentorship program, coaching Tallahassee's rising entrepreneurs. Having met some of Tallahassee’s most brilliant minds and experts through Domi, Kamahki describes Domi as a “place for the collision of talent and expertise that always yields value for everyone involved.”

As an expert in his field and upon receiving his MBA, Kamahki has been focusing on startups and strategic planning for both governmental and private organizations in the United States. These days Kamakhi may find himself busy tasked with planning strategic efforts in the financial sector for a population of 30 million, but he is never too busy for a gaming session with his son who often has to show dad the ropes!

Pro Tip: Tallahassee has many impressive startups, but Ali recommends the creativity and resourcefulness of Tallahassee based startup Covalent and its founder Thomas Jackson. He has seen them build commercial Augmented Reality environments with a team mainly of university interns. Now that's resourceful!
